When There’s a Twill There’s a Way Worshop with Ellen Halseth
by Sarah Robichaux

Eleven of us gathered to partake of Ellen Halseth’s workshop “When There’s a Twill There’s a Way. We used one tie up to create a number of different pointed twill patterns. Ellen encouraged us to create our own patterns. One of the many great things about learning from Ellen is that she has many great tips and tricks to make weaving more efficient, and speedy. Here’s one tip: when weaving towels with mercerized cotton, wash them in soda ash afterwards to remove the mercerization and increase the softness and absorbency of the towels (1/8 cup per wash load). It was a relaxed, enjoyable learning environment!!
