Her artwork incorporates natural dyes, and handwoven and handspun natural fiber techniques that originate from the indigenous Ryukyu material culture of Okinawa, Japan where she was born. Scharine's artwork spans from traditional Ryukyu designs to designs reimagined thru a contemporary lens. Scharine is the 4th generation in her family to carry-on their Ryukyu textile tradition.

Workshops
Tablet Weaving
Sarah Robicheaux will be teaching a tablet weaving workshop on April 25th and 26th. We will put on a continuous warp at the workshop. Using this 2 color warp we will weave a sampler of several different patterns by changing the rotation and the angle of the threading in the tablets. This will give new tablet weavers a good jumping off point to weave on their own after the workshop. Sarah will be available to help workshop participants after the workshop is over for tips and tricks. All materials are included.
Workshop full.
